I was listening through the R.E.M. catalog today and picked out some songs you probably wont hear on anything except XRT these days. Their older material is fantastic and if you like R.E.M. at all and do not know much of their material, begin with Automatic for the People and start working backwards.

R.E.M.- Automatic for the People
I am too tired and sick to write up a synopsis for this album. It's great and one of R.E.M.'s best/most popular albums. It lead to them signing (at the time) the largest recording contract in history. Automatic for the People

Vanilla Sky Soundtrack
Some people think Vanilla Sky is a fantastic movie, I on the other hand think that it's just ok and the fact that Cameron Diaz and Penelope Cruz are in it make it tolerable to watch. Either way most agree that it has an absolutely fantastic soundtrack, and it's no surprise being a Cameron Crowe (Fast Times at Ridgemont High and Almost Famous) film. The movie is definitely worth a watch just to see how Crowe expertly uses this great soundtrack in his film.
Here are some of the songs included on the soundtrack.
